In 1998, Dr. William L. Tuttle found himself at a crossroads and decided to embark on the great American dream of becoming a successful, self-made entrepreneur in the animal health industry.

Since 1998, Probyn International Has Transformed Lives
For over two decades, Probyn International has provided safe and natural feed additives for the animal health industries worldwide, touching the lives of millions.
Our products have been used by farmers and feed millers across dozens of countries on multiple different continents, transforming everyday individuals who eat food sourced from animals.
Probyn International Was Born From Loss.
In 1998, the animal health company Dr. William L. Tuttle was working at the time downsized and during this transition consequently, he was let go from his position as the Vice President of International Sales & Marketing. Having been operating in this role with two companies for over 18 years, Dr. Tuttle found himself at a crossroads of what to do next.
He decided he would use his education and expertise in animal health nutrition paired with his global connections of animal health distributors, nutritionists, veterinary doctors, and supply chain managers to form an animal feed additive company called Probyn International.
Probyn, which was his wife's maiden name, stood for PRO (meaning positive), Bacteria, Yeast, & Nutrition ie. PRO-BYN and would go on to be a family busines and recognized brand name accross the world.
From Farmer, To Global Animal Health Professional
Dr. Tuttle (also called Bill) grew up on a farm in Iowa and attended the notorious animal health university in his home state, Iowa State University where he received a bachelor's in chemistry and a doctorate in animal nutrition.
At the time of his departure from his previous employer, he noticed a growing consumer shift away from the use of pharmaceuticals and drugs in animals in the late 1990's and decided to develop his own unique, non-drug products that he could market to other parts of the world to capitalize on this growing trend.
Based on his own research and education, paired with studies from other leading university's, Bill developed the first round of mycotoxin binders and nutritional supplements for animals.
Family Business Brings Future Hope
In 2010, twelve years after working primarily alone on the business, Bill's son David decided to join his father and together, the father and son duo would expand Probyn International to what it is today.
David also attended university in Iowa, but at the rival school to Bill's: The University of Iowa in Iowa City. There he studied business, marketing, and entrepreneurship which led him to join the family business.
With David's expertise in modern, digital marketing, David elevated the company's brand presence and operational status to grow and thrive into the new era of animal production.
Despite fierce competition and various global challenges such as hindered supply chain logistics or disease outbreaks such as Avian Bird Flu, Swine Flue, or COVID-19 in 2020, David and Bill have managed to overcome various hurdles along their journey that have allowed Probyn International to continue to flourish as a recognized brand name in the animal health industry worldwide.

Now having been in business for more than 27 years, Probyn International continues to impact the lives of millions through their non-drug feed additives for livestock.
Having exhibited at trade shows around the world, and with new product developments and pivots to shifts in consumer trends, Bill and David continue to navigate the growing animal health industry with confidence and pride.
